Loretta Lynda Chekani nasceu em 1949 numa família albanesa. Assim que aprendeu a escrever, passou a pôr no papel as histórias que inventava. Formou-se em Inglês pela Clark University, onde trabalhou meio período como professora ao mesmo tempo que escrevia roteiros. Foi quando conheceu um produtor que a inspirou a publicar suas histórias. Os dois acabaram se casando. Com o sobrenome do marido, LORETTA CHASE vem publicando romances históricos desde 1987.
