Children have a unique gift: the ability to make people laugh without even trying. I refer to this gift as accidental humor. As a teacher for over twenty years I was privileged to be an eyewitness to children's unintentional humor and savored those moments by writing them down. When I asked my second graders to complete some phrases this is what they wrote: What I want most in the world is..."Tacos." I am really good at..."Running in high heels." I never want to forget..."My name." When I was little..."I looked good." My favorite time of day is..."November." I would rather read than..."Get chicken pox." If you have children, work with children or know a child, you will appreciate this light-hearted, humorous, laugh out loud account of their accidental humor.
