Taking the selfie back to the original method of creating them by hand with paint Michelle has created the #BeingMySelfie series of self-portraits and minisagas which document her year long journey on the effect of social media in our daily lives and the importance of representing self through this new medium. Artists have long understood the visual need to connect with a person who is absent. Since the beginning of artistic expression, we have used images to tell our stories. It has always been left up to the artists to use their skills to present the message to the tribe. Michelle offers her stories unearthing the humanness in selfies.
