Gianni Vattimo nasceu em 1936, em Turim, Itália. Filósofo e político, é um dos expoentes do pós-modernismo europeu. Especializou-se em Heideberg, Alemanha; é professor na Itália e em diversas universidades dos Estados Unidos. Recebeu o título de Doutor das Honoris Causa universidades de La Plata, Palermo e Madri.
