Mitzy Roundcliff is hoping that her dinner party is nothing more than a dull affair that will push her to the top of her social circle and maybe earn a brief mention in the society column. When one of her guests, Doctor Stricken, gives a demonstration of his latest invention, those hopes vanish along with any semblance of normalcy. The soul of the aging adventurer, Professor Gorgon Young, is set loose to find a more youthful body to continue his adventures in. An ambulance-chasing lawyer sets his own soul free - as small as it is - to track down the adventurer and sign him as a client in the hopes of suing Mitzy. Meanwhile the remaining guests find themselves in various states of confusion. The glamorous actress Lena Hayman has occupied the body of the parish priest, delighted to find herself once again a virgin, Mitzy's husband George is stuck to Lena' agent, Cabal, and it seems the only way to set things right is to get the author's cousin Margaret to marry the wayward adventurer so he'll return to is original body - something he is loathe to do. "Dinner with Mitzy" is one of three humorous works of fiction Mr. Tillman worked on to counter the heartache as he wrote his two critically-acclaimed memoirs - "In the Failing Light" and "After All" - that chronicled his wife Minda's seven-year battle with breast cancer, and then then the two years after raising a young daughter as a widower.
