NIC PIZZOLATTO é criador, roteirista, produtor executivo e showrunner da série da HBO True Detective. Como escritor, teve trabalhos publicados nas revistas The Atlantic, The Oxford American, The Missouri Review, entre outras. Seu primeiro romance, Galveston, foi finalista do Edgar Award e venceu o Prix du Premier Roman Étranger da Academia Francesa e o Spur Award. Com a coletânea Daqui até o Mar Amarelo e outros contos, foi um dos finalistas do National Magazine Award. Pizzolatto nasceu em Nova Orleans e mora na Califórnia com a esposa e a filha.
