Andrea Severini is a physician who after reviving from two weeks coma, can now perceive all the emotions of people he touches, even with just a simple hand shake. At first he believes he is insane, but soon he is comforted by a friend who tells him he is not mad. 'It could be a Synesthesia', an uncommon neurological phenomenon (that is present in 2.2% of the world population) in which stimulation of a first sense, such as sight or hearing or touch causes an involuntary experience of a second sense. But Synesthesia by contact is a rare event, while there are no known cases that occured after concussion. Andrea's friend, a journalist propose to him that he might gain access to actually physically touch the Holy Shroud of Jesus at an upcoming International Meeting studying it. Andrea agrees to try, fascinated with the possibility to feel Jesus' suffering during His crucifixion. Not being allowed to carry out the plan, Andrea thinks of his efforts as a failure when he experiences an apparition of Jesus who explains to him that he now he has a 'gift' to share with others as an M.D. by understanding and alleviating their ills. He will start, in this way, the revival of is very soul. Then he meets Claudia, a Commisioner of police, who becomes his great love. She tries to save Andrea, at all costs, by a violent death. His murderous is lurking in the night. Two shots in the dark, then a worryng silence. A nightmarish story, almost surreal, but full of crue truth, often for the most part deliberately ignored. Ritrovarsi a percepire, all'improvviso, le emozioni degli altri con un semplice contatto (come una stretta di mano) per Andrea Severini è una esperienza travolgente. Prima il coma, poi questo 'dono' non voluto e non richiesto. Un amico giornalista gli spiega che potrebbe trattarsi di Sinestesia, un evento presente nel 2,2 % della popolazione mondiale. Però la Sinestesia da contatto è un evento rarissimo, mentre non si conoscono casi che si sono manifestati dopo un trauma cerebrale. Medico non credente, cercando di capire il perché di quello che gli è successo, si ritrova ad incamminarsi, attimo dopo attimo, verso il sentiero della fede con visioni sorprendenti. Poi incontra Claudia, un commissario di polizia, che diventa il suo grande amore e che cerca di salvarlo, a qualunque costo, da una morte violenta. Il suo assassino è in agguato nella notte. Due spari nel buio, poi un angosciante silenzio.
