O almirante William H. McRaven é autor do best-seller Arrume a sua cama: pequenas coisas que podem mudar a sua vida e talvez o mundo,e de outros dois livros: Sea Stories: My Life in Special Operations e O código do herói: lições aprendidas das vidas que vivemos.Em seus trinta e sete anos como SEAL da Marinha norte-americana, esteve em todos os níveis da cadeia de comando. Seu último cargo, como almirante condecorado, foi o de comandante de todas as Forças de Operação Especiais dos Estados Unidos. De 2015 a 2018, após passar para a reserva da Marinha, serviu como Chanceler da Universidade do Texas. Hoje, ele vive em Austin, no Texas, com sua esposa Georgeann.
