Based on the title of this book, one might get the impression that this could be a preachy or religious in nature. However, it is not intended to be that at all. Rather it is an 'ideas' book which is intended to inform the reader and improve their chances for having a successful marriage. How bad can that be? It will, however, go into some detail about what humanity is and how it came about.I suppose each of us had or does aspire to settling down with the perfect mate, and then building a satisfying life together. If this was not or is not your goal, your time might be better spent in reading the sports pages.For those of you who are still with me, I will bring both philosophy and experiences, personal and observed, to this matter in a way that I hope to convince and educate.To put my life experience into some perspective, I am a young person who just happens to be in his seventies, as is my wife. We married late in life (35 and 40), and this is our first and only marriage. It has, as might be expected, had its ups and downs (though not very much of the downside is recent years), but we never considered divorce for as long as one millisecond. This is not because of a deep religious conviction, rather it is because of a philosophy that we both managed to acquire while in our youth... a positive indoctrination.Mark Twain: "Love seems the swiftest, but it is the slowest of all growths. No man or woman really knows what perfect love is until they have been married a quarter of a century."Both my wife and I can attest to the 'reality' that was espoused by Samuel Clemens in the above expression about love. For us It just keeps on getting better as one shared memory is combined with all of the others. While dwelling on memories may sound like something old folks do. Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.
