Philip Reeve nasceu em Brighton, Inglaterra, e trabalhou em uma livraria antes de se tornar ilustrador e mais tarde se dedicar à escrita. Seu primeiro romance, Mortal Engines, recebeu, entre outros prêmios, o Nestlé Smarties Gold Award (2002).
