Michael Aitch Price (alias Michael H. Price) has devoted the COMICS FROM THE GONE WORLD series of graphic novels to the restoration of the artwork of Robert Hayward Webb, the largely anonymous workhorse of the Jerry Iger Studio -- a shabby but influential force in the pre-censorship comic-book racket of the 1950s. With MUSEUM OF MO' DERN' ART, Price collects the major paintings of the series: Restorations and adaptations of the covers of many of those notorious comic books. The gallery catalog also reproduces many examples from Price's THE HUMAN CONDITION, a suite of evocative watercolors and oils; and a generous selection of his editorial-opinion cartoons from the early years of the new century. The combination serves as a document of recent years' works while amplifying the scope of the COMICS FROM THE GONE WORLD books, all with Credit Where Due to some obscure chump-change artists of the midcentury.
