In this heart-warming tale of family ties, adventure and practical jokes, fun and laughter, Tom and Oliver spend their summer school holidays with their motor-bike mad grandmother and her dog Scruff in Cornwall, where they enjoy many adventures in the countryside. Brave little Scruff takes on a charging bull to save the boys. They rescue a sheep from certain death. Tom and Oliver even get to see themselves as grown men when they travel to the future, and then foil a bank robbery with the weighty help of Nanny. Later, when they tell their Mother about their magical adventures, she does not believe them; not, that is, until she hears some news that causes her to wonder.
