Michael Crichton é escritor, médico, produtor e diretor de televisão. Nascido nos Estados Unidos, cursou medicina na Universidade de Harvard e se formou Doutor em Políticas Públicas. Porém, foi na carreira de escritor que obteve destaque. Seu primeiro best-seller, Enigma de Andrômeda, foi escrito enquanto Crichton ainda estava cursando a faculdade.
