As a young person, author Carolyn Edwards grew to be fascinated by orchids. Because of where she lived, information on growing orchids was not available to her - not at that time, or for her age level. What she could find was mostly in a dictionary and that information was straightforward and dull. How she would have enjoyed an exciting book about orchids, a book just like this! One Stormy Night finds Carol inspecting her greenhouse the morning after a terrible storm. She observes that a window has been damaged and a screen torn in the greenhouse. She finds she has two visitors: Chloe and Allegra, both fairies. Chloe's wing was injured in the storm and she needs a place to mend. The fairies decide to stay with Carol in her greenhouse filled with flowering plants.
