O AUTOR
CARLO COLLODI (1826 – 1890), pseudônimo de Carlo Lorenzini, nasceu em Florença, na Itália, em 1826. Anos depois, apaixonado pela política, resolveu se dedicar ao jornalismo com a intenção de encontrar caminhos melhores para o país. Assinou artigos e comédias na imprensa que foram publicados especialmente no periódico II Fanfulla. Mas foi na literatura a maior contribuição do autor: a partir de 1875, começou a traduzir os contos de fadas do francês Charles Perrault. Com a aceitação popular, Collodi criou uma série infantil com o vilão Gianettino no ano seguinte. O grande sucesso chegou em 1881, com a publicação do primeiro capítulo de Pinóquio (lançado originalmente como Storia di un burattino, ou História de um boneco, em tradução livre para português), que contava com ilustrações de Eugenio Mazzanti, no jornal infantil Giornale dei Bambini. |
