In Emerson's words, "A good reader can, in a sort, nestle into Plato's brain and think from thence; but not Shakespeare's. We are still out of doors." This still may be true. But with these selected quotes, the editor has tried to draw a portrait of the poet's mind using his own words. From the powerful "King Lear" to the silly "Midnight Summer's Dream", the editor has tried to pluck the "Best of the Bard" into a slim volume. He has also asked readers, if he has left out any of their favorite, to e-mail him quotes, which he will include in a future edition. As an addendums, or Part II, Robbins comes out punching and takes careful aim at he authorship question, with documents and information that he thinks will bury the "ridiculous notion" that anybody else except the Gent from Stratford wrote the plays.
