Spurgeon, Charles H.
Charles Haddon Spurgeon, referido como C. H. Spurgeon (Kelvedon, Inglaterra, 19 de junho de 1834 — Menton, França, 31 de janeiro de 1892), foi um pregador Batista inglês. Muito influente no protestantismo reformado nos dias de hoje, meio no qual é conhecido como o "Príncipe dos Pregadores". Foi uma figura forte na tradição Batista Reformada, defendendo a Igreja de acordo com o entendimento da Confissão de Fé Batista de 1689, e se opondo às tendências teológicas liberais e pragmáticas na Igreja de seus dias.
Converteu-se ao cristianismo em 6 de janeiro de 1850, através do primeiro sermão de um diácono chamado John Eeglen, aos quinze anos de idade. Aos dezesseis, pregou seu primeiro sermão; no ano seguinte tornou-se pastor de uma igreja batista em Waterbeach, Condado de Cambridgeshire. Em 1854, Spurgeon, então com vinte anos, foi chamado para ser pastor da capela batista de New Park Street, Londres, que mais tarde viria a chamar-se Tabernáculo Metropolitano, transferindo-se para novo prédio em Elefanth & Castel, Newington.
