bell hooks (Gloria Jean Watkins) nasceu nos Estados Unidos em 25 de setembro de 1952. Atualmente, é professora de inglês no City College de Nova York. Escreveu inúmeros livros, entre os quais: Outlaw Culture: Resisting Representations, Belonging: A Culture of Place, Thinking Critical Teaching: Practical Wisdom.
