In the first book these colorful characters are headed for captivity in a distant land. As they escape their captors, the storyline changes direction as it is entwined with that of a little girl who is missing after disobeying her mother. Working as a team with the little girl, they rescue themselves from yet another trap, and in the process they become friends, returning the girl to her mother and walking away into the sunset as the journey continues...
