In this fictionalized retelling of the traditional Christmas tale, author Reginald Hair treats readers to the backstory of the three wise men who famously followed a star and delivered gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. But their story neither started nor stopped there. In Hair's world, the magic men are living in ancient Babylon when a celestial being appears to one of them, directing him to leave his job and take presents to an unknown baby born in Bethlehem. Obeying this seemingly crazy command requires difficult decisions that dramatically change his life. Somehow, through twists of fate and faith, he is joined by two friends and a band of gypsies. They miraculously find the foretold treasure and follow a flaming meteorite that moves above and before them. Their adventure is great as they find the baby Jesus and deliver the treasure. But their story continues as they return home and learn their faith must carry them for the rest of their days. A magical and imaginative account of one of the most beloved stories of all times, The Holy Magi invites readers of all ages, to find faith, hope, love, and joy in a story that extends beyond Christmas.
