Susan Eloise Hinton nasceu em Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sua carreira de escritora começou ainda jovem quando, incomodada com os confrontos entre as duas gangues de sua escola, ela pôs no papel o que se tornaria The Outsiders: Vidas sem rumo, sua obra de maior repercussão, adaptada para o cinema por Francis Ford Coppola em 1983. Em 1988, Hinton foi agraciada na primeira edição do Margaret A. Edwards Award, prêmio da American Library Association dedicado às obras voltadas ao público jovem. Publicou nove livros e mora com o marido em Tulsa, onde dedica seu tempo à escrita, a relaxar e a andar a cavalo, uma de suas maiores paixões. |
