Kelly Yang foi eleita autora bestseller de The New York Times por seus livros Front Desk, Three Keys e Room to Dream e foi ganhadora do Asian/Pacific American Award for Children’s Literature, prêmio de literatura infantil. Caindo de paraquedas é seu romance jovem-adulto de estreia. Ela foi para a faculdade aos treze anos e se formou nas Universidades da Califórnia, Berkeley e Harvard.
