SALMAN RUSHDIE nasceu em Bombaim, na Índia, em 1947. De família muçulmana liberal e abastada, aos treze anos foi estudar na Inglaterra e lá permaneceu, tornando-se súdito britânico. Em 1968, formou-se em história no King’s College, em Cambridge. Depois de uma breve carreira como ator, passou a se dedicar à literatura em 1971. Escreveu mais de vinte livros, entre os quais Os filhos da meia-noite, A feiticeira de Florença, O último suspiro do mouro e Fúria. Em 2023, foi nomeado uma das cem pessoas mais influentes do ano pela Time. |
